About us
A message from the owners: Hugh and Lyn Ellis
We stumbled upon the 'Kiembah' property whilst searching for a new location to move our farming business out of irrigation country. We were immediately drawn to the character and history surrounding 'Kiembah' and simply had to have it. It is such a picturesque spot that we wanted to be able to share it with others. The 1000 hectare property was formerly a deer farm with high fencing and lane-ways between paddocks, but nowadays we run sheep and cattle with a little cropping. There is a good balance of native and improved pastures and the sheltered hills and valleys make it an ideal breeding property. There are many impressive rock formations across the property, and you certainly feel like you are in bushranger country. The gardens allow all the houses to be nestled in amongst greenery which encourages you to feel part of the landscape. World renowned architect, John Andrews, made a huge impact upon the character of the property. He built the homestead in what he called the traditional Australian farmhouse style, however, with its energy tower and breezeways there is nothing traditional about our home. We have run with the concept, aiming to keep the property running in an environmentally responsible way, utilitising solar energy and running the main Homestead and Guesthouses on collected rainwater. We love it - come and share it with us! |
